Western Tractor to host ‘Free FryDay’ donation drive to support Ukrainian refugees

More tasty fries are on the menu beginning Friday in Lethbridge. McCain Foods and Western Tractor are teaming up for a ‘Free FryDay’ donation drive. It is a fundraiser for Ukrainian refugees. If you visit the Lethbridge Western Tractor dealership on Friday at 3 p.m., you will receive two bags of fries from McCain. All you need to do is bring a monetary donation or supplies like non-perishable food items, first aid kits and blankets to benefit those who have had to flee the war in Ukraine.

“Starts at 9 o’clock in Medicine Hat, 11 o’clock in Burdett, and then we are off to Taber for 1 o’clock, and we are here in Lethbridge for 3 o’clock. Got some live entertainment at different locations as well and we are going to just have some fun tomorrow (Friday) and give away some product,” said Steven Dyck, President of Western Tractor.

The goal is to raise 100 thousand dollars and have enough supplies to fill up a grain truck.

“A 100 days into this war, it’s easy for you know it to start to fade into the background but there is still a lot of folks that are living in conflict zones and many of them have moved into other countries. We have a very strong connection in Alberta there is over 350,000 Ukrainian citizens of decent here. That bond’s there and we want to be there as sisters and brothers to support them,” added Dyck.

All of the funds will go toward relief funds set up through various humanitarian aid agencies. More details can be found here.
