Local school staff donate to charity to help Ukraine
Teachers and staff members at Our Lady of the Assumption School have rallied together and are showing their support for the people of Ukraine. During their Spiritual Development Day, staff members donated to the school’s charity of choice, Development and Peace, with the funds going towards humanitarian efforts overseas. An official with the school says they are grateful to be able to donate.
“I think a lot of it comes down to, do what you can, with what you have, and where you are. If what we can do as a staff is just take up a collection, is just create awareness among our students, and certainly, I know that all the teachers, in an age-appropriate way, have discussed the conflict with their students. I think at least it makes people feel like they are doing something,” said Caryn Swark, Associate Principal at Our Lady of the Assumption School.
So far the school has raised just over $300 for the people of Ukraine.
