Coffee with a Cop initiative underway in Medicine Hat
Residents in Medicine Hat can sit down and enjoy a cup of joe with a member of the police as part of the services Coffee with a Cop initiative. At a variety of different locations, from now until April 9th, you can sit down with a police officer and have a conversation about anything. Medicine Hat’s Chief of Police, Mike Worden, says nothing is off the table and the feedback has been great so far.
“We have told people you bring anything you like, we are in a recruiting phase right now so we have ensured that some of our recruiters are there if someone has questions about the process and maybe some of the hiring processes if they have. We’ve had people come and talk about photo radar tickets they have received and talked about concerns in the community. All different things,” said Mike Worden, Chief of Police for the Medicine Hat Police Service. “They are happy to meet us obviously and we are happy to meet them, but it seems to be pretty positive.”
There is no need to pre-register and Chief Worden says your cup of coffee will be on them. We did reach out to the Lethbridge Police Service to see if they will be holding a similar initiative but as of right now, there are no plans to bring it back because of the pandemic.
