Alberta wildfire continue firefighting efforts on blazes within province
With these active fires still burning in the province, an information officer with Alberta Wildfire says they are continuing their efforts to put these blazes out which includes the help of crews from other jurisdictions. Officials are also reminding residents to exercise caution as we make our way to the Canada Day long weekend.
“We are continuing to get in this support that has been helping us greatly. We’re super appreciative of it. Like I said, the rain that we’ve had recently has really helped our firefighting efforts. Our firefighters have been able to go in and extinguish hot spots and work on containment guards within these fires to try and contain them. There is still a fire restriction in effect in the northern areas of the province. So that means that you can’t have a campfire on public land. You can only have it on private property and within campgrounds.”
The ban also includes fireworks and explosive targets.
