City council looks at funding for Diversion Outreach Team
Lethbridge City Council is looking into approving $170,000 in funding to support the Diversion Outreach Team otherwise known as DOT. The money would go towards new vehicles for the group. DOT is a service through the Community Social Development Department which helps some of our city’s most vulnerable.
“The type of vehicle that DOT uses. It’s a fairly specialty vehicle. And then it comes down to just, again, the mechanical wear and tear that the vehicles have. These current vehicles, I believe, are only about five years old. And the amount of kilometers and the wear and tear that they put on is substantial. So buying new has been the preferred approach.”
The item will now head to Lethbridge City Council and will likely be discussed at the July 11th meeting.
