Hyggen addresses motion affirming Lethbridge’s place in Alberta, Canada
Lethbridge Mayor, Blaine Hyggen is addressing public criticism about postponing a motion recognizing the city as a vital part in Alberta and in Canada.
The motion was deferred to a later meeting, which won’t take place until after the October 19th referendum. The motion, co-sponsored by Hyggen and three other councillors strives to recognize Lethbridge’s influence and advocacy in the province and country.
The vote was carried 5-4 to move it to the Community Issues Committee meeting on October 20th.
Hyggen spoke with BCN following the Mayor’s Luncheon for Business and the Arts, a day after Tuesday’s city council meeting. He claims the motion will have the opportunity to receive public discussion, and that it also has no timely relation in regard to the ongoing provincial referendum.
