Roundabout construction closes College Drive intersection near Polytechnic

Construction crews have begun work on a new roundabout that will impact the main route to get to Lethbridge Polytechnic. The intersection at College Drive South and 28 Avenue/Tudor Boulevard South is now closed beginning Monday for the next two months.

Detours for motorists and pedestrians will be enforced during this time as well as some parking restrictions. Work will include roadway reconstruction, upgraded street lighting, relocation of a bus stop and landscaping restoration. The city has installed roundabouts in the surrounding neighborhood to improve safety and traffic flow. This project serves as part of their 2026 Intersection Improvements Program.

As for transit, service on Route 2 Blue and Route 62 will be directly impacted. Four stops along College Drive South and one stop on 28 Avenue South will be inactive during construction. Temporary bus stops will be placed on Scenic Drive South and 28 Street South. Transit passengers can review route detours on MyRide.

The intersection is expected to reopen on August 7th before the Polytechnic’s new term begins, without factoring in weather delays.
