President of LPA speaks out on reprimanded officer

Lethbridge Police have reprimanded an officer in connection with improperly accessing information involving former Lethbridge MLA Shannon Phillips back in 2018. In 2020, a complaint was issued by Phillips that three Lethbridge Police officers and one civilian employee improperly accessed her information on the police database. The investigation by ASIRT concluded that two officers, including one still employed by LPS, Constable Joel Odorski, may have committed criminal offenses. However, the Alberta Crown Prosecution Service claimed the test for prosecution was not met and charges would not be laid. The LPS did however find Constable Odorski guilty of discreditable conduct and insubordination and was sanctioned through a reprimand as a result, which will remain on his record of discipline for three years. All disciplinary matters by the LPS are now concluded based on the investigation.
