Local Rabbit Rescue participates in Betty White Challenge
January 17th would have been Betty White’s 101st birthday. Since the Golden Girls’ passing, many animal shelters have participated in the Betty White Challenge. Betty White was apparently a huge animal lover. The initiative was created in 2022 as a way to celebrate the actress’s birthday while also encouraging people to donate to shelters or rescues in her name. A local rabbit rescue says they raised over a thousand dollars last year and hope for even more this year. By participating in challenges like this one, the rescue says it will help to hopefully expand their business into the future.
“Not like a huge rescue. We’re fairly, you know, still new in the rescue community and stuff, so it was incredible. It pays for spades and neuters and food. Eventually, down the road, we want to expand into an all exotic rescue. So we’re rescuing everything from mammals to reptiles to all kinds of things,” said Alyssa Koenig, Founder, Archie Angels Rabbit Rescue.
Koenig says it’s great to see the community participate in the challenge and thanks community members for all of their support so far.
