University of Lethbridge honours acclaimed artist and a leading researcher

Today and tomorrow, the University of Lethbridge is celebrating the largest graduating class in the institution’s history. More than 1,600 students are being convocated during the Spring Graduation ceremonies. During the morning ceremony, in addition to the graduation proceedings, an honorary degree was given to influential artist Faye HeavyShield. She has earned national and international acclaim for artistic works deeply connected to her Blackfoot culture. Meanwhile, Dr. Borries Demeler received the Speaker Research Award. Demeler is a leading hydrodynamics researcher. The Speaker Research Award recognizes the importance of research, scholarship, and performance to the philosophy and goals of the university.
