Lethbridge Police hosts K9 seminar for western Canadian units

Lethbridge got some four-legged visitors this week. Police dogs from across western Canada were in town to participate in some specialized ‘paws-on’ training sessions.

The three-day Spring Canine Seminar includes 17 canine teams from different regions and municipalities so that service dogs and their handlers can refine some critical skills and behaviors. Two new pups in training with the Lethbridge Police Service are participating in this week’s seminar, which will bring the total canine force at LPS to four.

The Canadian Police Canine Association hosts a seminar annually as well as trails where canine units across Canada compete against each other in task-based challenges.
