St. Patrick Fine Arts Elementary School in Lethbridge has won a first place in a national music class competition. Forty Grade 4 music students earned the top honour for their performance of mitêh by acclaimed Cree music educator and composer Sherryl Sewepagaham.
As a first-place winner, the school will receive $2,000 worth of new musical instruments from MusiCounts. Stacy Skretting says music gives elementary students the opportunity to develop confidence, creativity and skills that support their overall learning.
Serving as the category judge, Sewepagaham called the performance a “fantastic submission”. Congrratulations to them!
