Lethbridge man identified as Montreal shooting suspect
The alleged shooter in Montreal on Monday has been identified as 25-year-old Seth Scott Hatfield, from Lethbridge. According to the Canadian Press, his name was released by the Quebec coroner on Tuesday.
The coroner has also identified the two other people killed — 34-year-old Mohamed Lamine Benredouane, a Montreal police officer, and 68-year-old Michel Mizrahi, a bystander caught in the crossfire.
Montreal police Chief Fady Dagher says officers were met with gunfire after responding to a 911 call about a person with a gun at a Hilton hotel in the Côte-des-Neiges district on Monday morning.
Quebec’s police watchdog is investigating the shooting, while Quebec provincial police have launched a parallel criminal probe.
The Lethbridge Police Service conducted a search at a westside townhouse on Lemoyne Crescent West on Tuesday morning. Some residents were evacuated due to the possible presence of weapons.

LPS has confirmed that they are assisting with authorities in Quebec with the investigation directly in connection with the shooting in Montreal, and will not comment any further.
