Crops grown to tackle hunger destroyed by hailstorm

A hailstorm that hit southern Alberta earlier this August apparently came at the worst time for some farmers in the region.

Farmers with the Coaldale-Lethbridge Foodgrains Growing Project said they seem to have lost nearly all of their barley that was growing southeast of Coaldale.

Part of the Canadian Foodgrains Bank, they grow crops for the sole purpose of donating the harvested produced to food-impoverished regions around the world.
