U of L launches Indigenous artist residency program
Today, the University of Lethbridge celebrated National Indigenous Peoples Day with a special event that included a Blackfoot naming ceremony and the announcement of a significant gift supporting the Indigenous Artist in Residence program. Dr. Heather Davis-Fisch, Dean of the Faculty of Fine Arts, says the funding will allow Indigenous artists to undertake residencies at the university. The initiative is the first program of its scale in the faculty and the first to specifically focus on Indigenous artists.
She says the residency is for periods of four weeks to eight months. So it provides living expenses and access to all of our studios and facilities and staff here in the Faculty of Fine Arts.
