Lethbridge fire crews tackle weekend blazes
Lethbridge Fire and Emergency Services responded to two fires over the weekend that are currently still under investigation.
The first incident occurred Friday evening, when crews were called at 10:15 p.m. to a large outside fire in the 400 block of 10 Street North. The blaze had spread to the exterior of a nearby building. Firefighters acted quickly to stop it from extending further into the structure.
The second fire occurred when crews were called at 5:15 a.m. on Sunday to a garage fire in the 1600 block of 15 Avenue South. That blaze spread from the garage to the home, but Firefighters prevented the fire from spreading to neighbouring properties. The fire caused extensive damage to the garage, torching two cars parked inside. Two residents were safely evacuated without injury.
In both cases, the cause and damage estimates are still being determined, LFES reminds residents to call 911 in any reports of smoke or fire.
