Fire breaks out on Whoop Up Drive bridge
Lethbridge Fire crews were out very early on Wednesday morning to tackle a fire on the Whoop Up Drive bridge.
The fire broke at around 3:30 a.m. where rehabilitation work is being performed underneath the bridge, with the city confirming the fire originated within scaffolding and construction materials associated with the work. Falling burning debris also caused small spot fires underneath the bridge on the west side of the Old Man River.
About a dozen firefighters tackled and extinguished the blazes, and the exact cause remains under investigation.
There are no current traffic disruptions as a result, and no injuries were reported.
