Blaine Hyggen officially launches mayoral campaign

It came as a surprise to many people of Lethbridge on Facebook Wednesday afternoon.  News quickly spread that Lethbridge city councillor Blaine Hyggen is running for mayor in this fall’s election. And now he has made it official as of Thursday morning by filing his nomination papers.

At a campaign launch event held the same morning, Hyggen gave attendees a preview of what key issues he plans to outline during his campaign.

One divisive issue in Lethbridge has surrounded the presence of a supervised consumption site (SCS) in the city. Hyggen says that should the province want to open an SCS in the city again, he would want to see that it is operated correctly.

Hyggen adds that he intends to run a clean, positive campaign without any mudslinging.
