Will ethics investigation hurt UCP in May?

Alberta’s NDP justice critic is calling for a full independent investigation following news that Premier Smith is under investigation by the ethics commissioner. Calgary MLA Irfan Sabir says the ethics investigation is not enough. He says Smith’s actions are a clear violation of the rule of law and she should be held accountable. Smith revealed the commissioner is investigating whether she interfered in the administration of justice in relation to a COVID-19 prosecution. The premier’s office has said Smith welcomes the investigation and will co-operate while being confident that it will determine she has done nothing wrong. Political reporter and Toronto Sun columnist Brian Lilley gave us his thoughts if he thinks this investigation by the ethics commissioner will hurt the UCP’s chances of being re-elected. He shares his thoughts with BCN’s Hal Roberts.
