Week long Foodie Fest kicks off

Tuesday provided some perfect weather to kick off Foodie Fest here in the city.

The food truck festival is an initiative by the Lethbridge Downtown BRZ that began following the pandemic to get people back downtown, but they’ve kept up the tradition due to its popularity.

Emily Chong, of the Downtown BRZ, says the festival kicked off with 12 food trucks around Galt Gardens and in Festival Square and over 20 businesses around downtown offering free samples on Tuesday, May 28.

“Then on Wednesday (May 29) in Festival Square we have a free pancake breakfast from 7 a.m. til 9 a.m.. On Thursday we’re hosting for the very first time our Latin America street party on 6 Street. So that’s a family friendly event, we’ll have everything from food to entertainment to games and we’re bringing a beach to right in front of Blanco’s on the street – and yes, there will be sand!”

According to Chong 10,000 pounds of sand willl be brought in for the event.
