Wade Galloway Skate Park renaming
Locals are invited to take part in a grand renaming event Saturday for the Wade Galloway skate park. The special day includes a free BBQ for the first 200 people along with Boarderline Skate Shop providing skate demos. Wade Galloway passed away suddenly in February of 2014, but it was his work in the community which inspired him to run and win a seat on City Council.
“So when that accident happened, it was a real, real tough one. It was very soon, obviously, after the election, that we are both elected. But to be able to see this, this happen, it’s something that he pushed so hard to have that particular facility and that park in our community, and to see it there and everybody enjoy that park, to have his name as part to it is just really heartwarming, to be very honest. So I’m excited to be there on Saturday to be able to take part in that announcement,” said Blaine Hyggen, Mayor of Lethbridge.
The event starts at 11:30 a.m., at the corner of Mayor Magrath and Parkside Drive South.
