School zones now back in effect, LPS reminding residents to slow down
With students back in school, so are school zones. The Lethbridge Police Service is asking drivers to slow down and show even greater caution these first few weeks of the new school year as students may be excited to get to school and may not be paying enough attention. School zones have a posted speed limit of 30 km/h and are in effect on school days from 7:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m.
Sgt. Steve Veale, with the Community Engagement Unit, says pedestrians and cyclists also have to be cautious when they are on their way to school.
Police are also reminding motorists to not park on or obstruct crosswalks.
