Salvation Army raising funds for Ukraine
The Salvation Army provides critical humanitarian aid where they are most needed. You can make donations to the army which will be sent to help out those who have been displaced in Ukraine. Donald Bladen, the Community Ministries Officer for the Lethbridge Salvation Army, says the group has been out on the front lines to help those who need it most in Ukraine.
“And so I know the Salvation Army for instance has provided diapers, formula, clothing, and compassionate care relative to the number of babies that were born in a subway for instance in Kyiv. What can you say about those things- desperate situations call for desperate measures. The Salvation Army is mobilized in Ukraine and that entire region and has been for many years.”
Bladen adds that the Salvation Army is doing what they can to help out those who have been affected by human trafficking in Ukraine as well.
“To date I am aware of at least three cases where human trafficking, kidnapping, and other very illicit purposes that were designed to bring harm to people have been thwarted by the work that we’ve been doing there.”
If you would like to donate to the army’s work in Ukraine you can call 1-800-SAL-ARMY or visit https://salvationarmy.ca/
Coming up on April 2 the army will be hosting a Roast Beef Dinner that will raise funds for the Partners In Mission.
Bladen states that the funds raised will be sent to the army’s partnering companies around the world, “Many of whom in fact are participating in the receiving of and helping of refugees relative to the Ukraine situation.”
Lethbridge has a $10,000 goal for a 12 month period.
