Lethbridge kicking into high gear for soccer provincials
Fans of soccer in our city are set for a treat this weekend. The Lethbridge Soccer Association is hosting the Tier Two Alberta Youth Outdoor Soccer Provincials. There will be 47 teams competing with players ranging in age from 13 to 17. Players from across the province will be taking part including five teams from Lethbridge.
“Locals can see what Edmonton, Calgary and Fort McMurray, what they’re doing and stuff. It kind of brings parents together. They can talk about programs with each other, and then the local community can see quite a high level of soccer being played. It’s going to be a good time and a hot time. There’s I think going to be a lot of water breaks happening, and hopefully everything and everybody stays cool,” says the Executive Director of the Servus Sports Centre, Frank Spadavecchia.
There are three locations for the games including the Lethbridge Sports Park in north Lethbridge, U of L Community Sports Stadium in west Lethbridge, and the Servus Sports Centre outdoor field in south Lethbridge. The first game will take place on Friday at 3pm. The tournament will wrap up on Sunday.
