Crossings Branch library celebrates grand re-opening

Following a renovation and expansion project, the Crossings Branch of the Lethbridge Public Library celebrated their grand re-opening on Monday. Dignitaries were present for a ribbon cutting ceremony, followed by a tour of the upgraded facility. As Manager of Branch Services, Sarah Head explains, there was extra space in the library that was previously undeveloped.

In the new space, you may notice an out-of-place carpet tile, but underneath it is something that will be hidden from out of sight for decades – a time capsule.  Students from the neighboring schools were asked to write letters to put into the time capsule among other things.

Head says, they plan to open the time capsule in August of 2040, thirty years from the date the library first opened.
