Council reinvests $100,000 into city parks for remainder of 2021

Recently, the City of Lethbridge has heard numerous concerns about the current aesthetics and up-keep of city parks and open spaces due to the parks budget cut that took place in November 2020. The parks budget was cut by $590,500 annually.

Councillor Blaine Hyggen, who brought the motion forward, says he was satisfied to only ask council for $100,000 for the remainder of the year to help with the up-keep of city parks.

The original resolution would’ve seen $404,500 go back to the parks budget in 2022, however, that was split after a motion to divide was carried 6-3.
