City adds municipal ballot question regarding third river crossing bridge

When you go to the polls this October for the municipal election, another question has been added regarding whether the municipal government should prioritize plans in the coming years for a possible third traffic bridge over the Oldman River. Council voted 6-3 on Tuesday to place the question on the ballot during October’s election.

Mayor Chris Spearman says because the bridge would be located in Lethbridge, as of today, we could see our property taxes increase up to 13 per cent.

The new Chinook Trail River Crossing bridge is currently set for a $4-million preliminary design in 2027, meaning the project will go back to council at the next Capital Improvement Plans before being approved.
