Community Peace Officers wanted in Lethbridge, Police Service begin recruitment for new hires
The Lethbridge Police Service is hiring for Community Peace Officers. The LPS says they are offering competitive wages, benefits and even a pension plan. The hiring process for officers opened in March and the LPS says they have received a lot of interest so far as they are looking to fill multiple positions. Allister Koop, recruiter with the LPS, explains what the job of a peace officer entails.
“So they will be connecting foot patrols, monitoring and maintaining public safety within the downtown and within their scope obviously. Our CPO’s work on the frontlines here in the downtown core of Lethbridge along with our police officers, they have criminal code authority for theft under $5,000 and mischief. So their job is a lot like a police officer, they are patrolling and maintaining the safety of the downtown core as well as working in our cell block, transporting prisoners and different things like that, so our CPO’s again, the scope is a little bit larger than many other CPO’s around Alberta,” said Cst. Allistar Koop, Recruiter with the Lethbridge Police Service.
The deadline to submit an application is May 15. Anyone interested in applying can submit their application here.
