Lethbridge College communications manager wins national award

A member of Lethbridge College is being recognized with a national award for her communication and creative problem-solving skills. Dawn Sugimoto, the communications manager for the college is the bronze recipient of the Leadership Excellence, Non-Managerial Staff award for this year’s CiCan Awards of excellence. Sugimoto explains what made winning this award so special.

“It’s wonderful to work with a community of people who are there to support each other and really that’s the role I play. I think what made this extra special is that the award came from CiCan which is a national organization representing public colleges, polytechnic’s across Canada. The Chair of the CiCan board is Dr. Paula Burns, the President of the college. She was on stage and she presented me this award and that’s what made it special,” said Dawn Sugimoto, bronze recipient of the Leadership Excellence, Non-Managerial Staff award.

This is not the first time the college has won an award like this but is the first time an individual at the institution has been recognized.
