Bronze medal win for Kodiaks women’s soccer team at ACAC Championships
The Lethbridge College Kodiaks women’s soccer team earned bronze over the weekend at the ACAC Championships, ultimately not winning their goal of heading to nationals this year. This is the third year the women’s team has walked away with bronze. Head Coach Sean Carey says the team tried really hard but just couldn’t come out on top.
“We push Red Deer really hard on Saturday in the semi-final. Just couldn’t get that tying goal near the end there. But then you have to regroup and you still have an opportunity to win a medal at a conference championships, which is huge. So we just reiterated that with girls. You know, this is still a major deal for the college and for the City of Lethbridge. Hopefully bringing those kind of medals back is definitely something we’re proud of. And, yes, hopefully next year is our year now,” said Sean Carey, Head Coach of the Women’s Lethbridge College Kodiaks soccer team.
The Kodiaks won the bronze medal by defeating the NAIT Ooks 2-0 on Sunday. Red Deer Polytechnic won the gold defeating Concordia University of Edmonton Thunder 1-0.
