AUPE continuing-care workers rally in Raymond for wages

Members of the Alberta Union of Provincial Employees working for the Good Samaritan Society have been rallying this week in southern Alberta.

On Tuesday, continuing-care workers in Raymond pushed for fair wages as negotiations with Good Samaritan for a new collective agreement have stalled. Union members in Magrath held a similar rally on Monday and according to AUPE, a new payroll system has ongoing problems issuing overtime and premium payments to workers already dealing with long hours and short staffing.

The Good Samaritan Prairie Ridge in Raymond reportedly employs 120 members. About 22,000 AUPE members are employed within the continuing-care sector outside of Alberta Health Services.
