ATE system continues as Lethbridge safety measure

Banning cameras at all intersections as well as on provincial roads and connecting roads has been one of the proposed changes to LPS and the City of Lethbridge. Lethbridge Police Chief, Shahin Mehdizadeh, says another proposal put forward by a small per cent of the community is to allow the use of speed cameras only in playground, school and construction zones. Mehdizadeh explains what the response is to the proposed changes within the Automated Traffic Enforcement program. Officials says If the ATE is reduced, and they turn to the traditional way of dishing out tickets it will mean having more officers work over time which will cost taxpayers more money.
