Alberta investing $152 million for Highway 3 twinning
The Chair of the Highway 3 Twinning Development Association, Gordon Reynolds, says he’s “pleasantly surprised” that the province is investing $152 million towards twinning a section of Highway 3.
The section noted in the province’s capital plan is a 36-kilometre stretch between Medicine Hat and past the Hamlet of Whitla, just east of Bow Island. Reynolds, who also serves as Mayor for Bow Island, says this development will reduce collision risks, support efficient freight movement, and strengthen economic opportunities in the region.
This is a continuing development to twin the full stretch of Highway 3 from Taber to Medicine Hat, with a 46-kilometre stretch between Taber and Burdett that began construction in 2024.
