Youth Advisory Board applications open, to be hosted by MP Rachael Thomas

Applications are now open to join the Youth Advisory Board hosted by Lethbridge MP Rachael Thomas. Young people between the ages of 16 and 24 can apply. Eight will be selected to join the board from September of this year to May 2024.

MP Thomas outlined some of the main topics that have been discussed in the past.

“Really, it’s an opportunity for young people to come to the table and to offer their voice to important discussions. We’ve had an opportunity in the past to talk about everything from natural resource development to mental health to homelessness to social programs that are offered at a federal level. We’ve discussed employment, post-secondary education. We’ve discussed the legalization of marijuana. Really, it’s young people who determine the issues that we are going to discuss. And that’s what I love about it, is really it’s self directed by them.”

Thomas says this is her seventh year hosting the board and mentioned that each youth is able to chair a meeting.

Interested applicants can apply online before March 10 here https://www.rachaelthomas.ca/
