U of L Jazz Ensemble paying tribute to classic video games with concert

A University of Lethbridge musical group is jazzed to make renditions of classic video games tonight at 7:30pm at the U of L Theatre.

Josh Davies, the instructor of trumpet and jazz ensemble for the university outlined the old-school video games like Mario and Zelda that will be played. Some TV shows and science fiction movies will also be heard.

“We’re actually doing four movements of Star Wars right after that, we’re doing the Main Theme, the Binary Sunset. Really beautiful piece from episode four. The third one is Imperial March, of course. Vader’s moment and finishing up with Cantina, the fun Cantina song.”

The video game Cuphead will be featured along with Pokémon and they will finish the show up with Game of Thrones.

To top it all off there will be a 19-foot projector with video and the actual gameplay as the music is playing.

Funds from tickets will go toward the U of L Jazz Ensemble to help students in the program.
