Mobile mammography unit coming to Milk River
A mobile mammography unit will be in the town of Milk River at the beginning of April for women who are looking to get tested for breast cancer. AHS says women between the ages of 45 and 75 are most at risk so it is vital to be checked. Officials with the AHS say the appointment takes around 30 minutes and the results are released within 2-3 weeks. They say detecting breast cancer early can help save lives.
“Having routine mammograms have been proven to be the most effective way to find breast cancer early, when the tumors are still small and before symptoms develop. At this stage, there are more treatment options. The individual has higher chances of survival and better health outcomes,” said Chidi Okoli, Health Promotions Facilitator, Alberta Health Services.
To book an appointment you are being asked to call 1-800-667-0604. The mobile mammography trailer will be in Milk River on April 3rd and 4th.
