Two new UCP Lethbridge-West nominees announced

Two new UCP candidates are seeking the nomination for the Lethbridge-West riding. Rick Dempsey and Torry Tanner are both in it to win it. Businessman Rick Dempsey says for the last thirty years, this city has served him so well and this is his way of giving back.

“I’ve always had a leadership mindset. And at the end of the day, we’re sitting West Lethbridge with an opposing view instead of a government. At the end of the day, hopefully all the of Lethbridge can be on the same train and we can have a unified voice here.

Entrepreneur Torry Tanner, who is originally from Saskatchewan, says she really wants to build a sense of community in Lethbridge West and explains two really important issues she wants to tackle if she is elected.

“One of the things that I had to learn in the last couple of years is that in order to make a difference, then you’ve got to be willing to step up to the plate, right. You got to be willing to put yourself out there and that’s what I’m doing with this candidacy. Some of the things that I am passionate about for sure is fiscal responsibility with government. I don’t understand how you can run a government, a business, anything without balancing the budget. You can’t live on credit. That’s really something that’s important to me. Also important is standing up for the rights of parents.”

Whomever wins will be going up against the current MLA-the NDP’s Shannon Phillips. The provincial election will be taking place on May 29th.
