Pedestrian struck and killed by semi-truck in Magrath

A collision involving a semi-trailer truck and a pedestrian has left a 43-year-old Magrath women dead.

On Monday, Raymond/Magrath RCMP were dispatched to an incident on 1st Street west in the town of Magrath, about 40 kilometres south of Lethbridge. When police arrived Fire and EMS were already on scene.

RCMP say their initial investigation revealed the pedestrian was walking along the side of the semi and stepped in front of the truck as the driver pulled away. The semi then hit the pedestrian. Unfortunately, the 43-year-old female resident of Magrath, was declared deceased at the scene. Her name has not been released.

Mounties are continuing to investigate and they send their condolences to the family and friends of the victim.
