Operation Christmas Child is celebrating its 30th anniversary. Since 1993, Samaritan’s Purse has collected more than 200 million shoeboxes to distribute to children in need around the world. There are even Lethbridge locations where folks can can drop off a special shoebox. BCN’s Micah Quinn chatted with staff from the Christian organization about how Canadians can pack a box and help put a smile on child’s face this Christmas season.

Operation Christmas Child has returned for its 30th year of providing joy to children from around the world. Last year kids from West Africa, Central America, Ukraine and the Philippines were given a shoebox.

Frank King, the news media relations manager with the organization says Canadians filled more than 415,000 shoeboxes in 2022.

There are a few must must have items for each shoebox including toys, school supplies, and hygiene items, plus personal notes and photos.

Lethbridge residents can drop off a shoebox at Park Meadows Baptist Church and Fresh Life Church along with the Evangelical Free Church in Taber.
