Federal Government invests $9 million in Southern Alberta businesses

A total of 9 million dollars in federal funding was announced today to be invested in six business projects across Lethbridge and southern Alberta. The allocation, provided through the Regional Tariff Response Initiative, will help small and medium-sized businesses navigate the challenges of tariffs and shifting global trade conditions.

Eleanor Olszewski, Minister of Emergency Management and Community Resilience and responsible for PrairiesCan, says those pressures have increased costs, disrupted supply chains, and limited market access.

She says the funding is also intended to help businesses innovate, adapt, and grow. The minister also adds. Canada is focused on what it can control by strengthening the domestic economy and diversifying trade partnerships abroad.

The 1.5-billion-dollar Regional Tariff Response Initiative is part of the Government of Canada’s strategy to defend Canadian jobs, industries, and supply chains from the impacts of tariffs.
