May 31 is World No Tobacco Day

May 31 is World No Tobacco Day. The aim of this initiative is to raise awareness and highlight the negative impact of tobacco and new nicotine products on children and young people. Dr. Brent Friesen, Provincial Medical officer of Health for Chronic Diseases Prevention and Harm Reduction, explains how this is affecting young Albertans. Dr. Friesen adds that programs such as Be Tobacco Smart are available in schools to help young people from becoming addicted to nicotine. They are run by Alberta Health Services and supported by the University of Lethbridge.
