Lions Club donates to UofL scholarship campaign program

The Lions Club of Picture Butte has made a significant donation to the University of Lethbridge. The funds will go towards helping students who are visually impaired. The financial boost will support the university’s scholarship campaign. It is meant to help break down some of the barriers that visually impaired students face.

“Well, I don’t know sort of speaking firsthand in terms of, you know, what are some of the challenges that our students face that are visually impaired. A bit of my background, I did have the opportunity to work for the Canadian National Institute for the Blind. So I do understand  the barriers and some of the accommodations that are needed for those students who face visual impairment. And some of those accommodations, we work with the students through our accommodation center, accommodation center for learning at the University of Lethbridge, and we’re able to provide those types of supports as well,” said Kathy Greenwood, Vice President of External Relations at the University of Lethbridge.

The university says the first award will be given out during the next academic year.
