Lethbridge seeking feedback over proposed north-south transportation hub

The City of Lethbridge says they’re planning and designing a central corridor transportation link, and they’re looking for public feedback and engagement to evaluate opportunities and challenges.

The so-called Winston Churchill to Sugar Bowl Functional Plan stretches from 26th Avenue north directly to Scenic Drive south between 16 and 20 streets. The City says this corridor is vital for connecting people to various key sites and services, including Sugar Bowl Hill, Chinook Regional Hospital, several schools, plus nearby parks, shopping and residential neighborhoods.

There will be four rounds of public engagement to capture feedback, including using 18th Street as a potential future pathway to establish a direct north-south bike route, with minimal changes to traffic and parking.

The city would then attempt to finalize a potential plan and present it to council in the final months of 2026. The survey and further details can be found here.
