Lethbridge Fire reminding residents to prepare for flooding, river levels no risk of concern yet

Understanding the risk of flooding is important especially when we are seeing heavy rain make its way through our province. The best thing people can do to prepare is to ensure that sump pumps are working well. Also cleaning out gutters, and making sure downspouts are pointed away from the foundation of your home. An official with Lethbridge Fire and EMS says fortunately right now there is no risk of concern with the river levels that could cause potential flooding here in our city.

“The City of Lethbridge is monitoring the river levels and keeping in contact with other municipalities on what they are experiencing and what’s anticipated. Our emergency management division is always monitoring all hazards and right now we are not at a specific level that we would deem to be necessary,” said Chris Tomaras,  Deputy Chief of Operations for Lethbridge Fire and EMS.
