Joint emergency management plan for Southern Alberta counties

Lethbridge County and surrounding communities are joining forces on a new strategy to strengthen disaster response. The Regional Emergency Management Plan also includes the towns of Coalhurst, Nobleford, Picture Butte and the Village of Barons. Lethbridge County Emergency Management Coordinator, Breea Tamminga, says administrative staff recently met for a briefing to look at how to better coordinate responses to large-scale or long-term disasters.

The plan provides guidance on establishing emergency operations centers and communication protocols for informing the public, as well as risk assessments and training plans for recovery in affected communities.
