Downtown BRZ hosted second mayoral forum on Tuesday evening

For the second night in a row, Lethbridge’s mayoral candidates participated in a mayoral forum. Tuesday’s forum was put on by the Downtown BRZ at the Public Library. Five out of the six candidates were present. Questions were asked by a media panel throughout the evening highlighting different budgets, public art work, diversifying the economy, and combating issues in the downtown.

The forum was broadcasted virtually, with a limited number of audience members present.

A hot topic during Tuesday’s forum was the police budget. City council approved the 2021-2022 operating budget which saw a budget cut for the LPS of  $1 million.

Advance voting starts on October 1, with election day set for October 18. The Downtown BRZ will be hosting a council candidate forum on October 5.

Mayoral candidate Kolton Menzak was unable to attend the forum on Tuesday night.
