Corb Lund’s final steps to petition coal mines
Country artist Corb Lund’s petition to outlaw new coal mines in the eastern Rockies is one step closer to collecting signatures. Elections Alberta says it’s approved the Juno award winner’s application.
Lund still needs to complete some paperwork before Elections Alberta can issue the petition, and he can begin collecting names. He’ll then have four months to collect nearly 178,000 signatures to persuade the legislature to consider passing a coal mining ban or send it to a province wide vote.
Lund says he’s confident his petition will acquire more than the required signatures to be successful.
