AUPE negotiates wage increase for Covenant Care workers

Workers at Covenant Health St. Therese Villa in Lethbridge, Alberta, have entered into negotiations with their employer. According to Curtis Jackson, vice president of the Alberta Union of Provincial Employees Executive Office, Southern Region, they are looking for   potential wage increase of 35 per cent over two years. He says the offer from the employer is far from that. Jackson says there are now 82-thousand public sector workers in negotiations across the province and they are seeing the same offer across the board.

Heidi was born in Bogota, Colombia and lived there until she was 18, then she moved to Caracas, Venezuela where she finished her bachelor's degree in journalism. Since 2010 she covered political issues related to the government of former president Hugo Chávez and his political opponents, management, death and transition to a new government.
