Alberta Grains pitches in with $4.3-million for GATE

The folks with Alberta Grains are pitching in with just over 4.3-million-dollars toward the Global Agriculture Technology Exchange or Gate initiative. Officials say it is part of a broader 13.2-million-dollar collaboration to create a state-of-the-art facility that will serve as a hub for market access, development and innovation within Canada’s cereals sector. Experts say this should enhance Canada’s standing as a global leader in agricultural exports. Alberta Grains Region 6 Director, Greg Sears, says producers need to jump on board.  Sears adds the total cost of the project will be around 102 million dollars including the building and specialized equipment. He says they are also hoping for government funding. As for the 13.2-million-dollars, it will also include collaboration funding by Sask Wheat and the Manitoba Crop Alliance.
