Search continues for missing 5-year-old boy

Crowsnest Pass RCMP is advising that the search continues for 5-year old Darius Macdougall of Lethbridge, who disappeared in the near Island Lake Campground. At a Monday press conference, RCMP Detachment Commander of Crowsnest Pass RCMP said the boy went missing while on a walk with family members, which included siblings. And that family members are still being interviewed. As minors are involved in the questioning, there are child forensic interviewers involved in the process. Four other organizations are working alongside RCMP in the search efforts, which include 60 ground searchers with Southwest Region Search and Rescue.

The RCMP announced Tuesday afternoon that the search area has been expanded since yesterday’s and last night’s search efforts proved unfruitful. The family has told investigators that Darius is autistic, which could pose some communication challenges.  He is described as 4-feet tall with short brown hair. He was last seen wearing a blue-grey hoodie and sweats. If you have any contact with Darius, you are asked to call Crowsnest Pass RMCP at 403-562-2866.
